Time, once contained with a never-ending cycle, has begun to flow once more. Faeries, cultivators, wizards and other supernatural beings, however, remain a constant.

Aster Newton, the cause of it all, awakens in the real world and is confronted with the harsh realities of life — he is not as special as he once thought himself to be. Like so many others in the Practitioners’ Circle, he repeats the usual spate of taking up missions and solving them, all in the busy little hub of Singapore.

That is, until he embarks on a particularly grisly mission for living expenses. A spate of ritual murders, fueled by a power that should never have appeared on Earth. As he works alongside mortal forces, he soon discovers a conspiracy decades in the making, the heart of it all the desire to break free from the shackles of mortality.

What can a mere mortal do, when pitted against an indomitable will and enemies from beyond his reality? One thing, however, is for certain. The world will never be the same again.
