Johan Dippel was one of Frankenstein's many alias mentioned in Prometheus reanimated. Harry Potter fans may recognize the name as Dippet by the genuine article is far from a Hogwarts Headmaster. Dippel was a 17th century alchemist and occultist who supposedly created "Dippel's oil" or an elixir of everlasting life. Despite being a real person, much of his history is steeped in folklore and he was accused of everything from horrific experiments to Faustian pacts. He even purchased Castle Frankenstein (which exists and I must visit) may has served as the model for Shelly's mad scientist architype. Seriously google this guy, he's bananas.
